Patient Boy
I am working with Aaron Landsman on his new play.
Here is his brief synopsis:
Written in three sections, Patient Boy is about nostalgia, idealism, activism, nihilism and punk rock. In part one, three men approaching 40 talk to an 18-year old boy about their glory days in punk rock; in part two the boy, meets a girl who lives in a squat, and together they go on a crime spree, burning down malls and killing security guards. A third section, in-progress, focuses on the woman’s recollections of that time from years later – some of this text is derived from interviews with Weather Underground member Bernardine Doehrn. Where early part one is dense with quotidian speech, the young couple’s scenes are rife with long silences signifying uncertain, tense passages of time. The third section folds these styles into each other.
I was curious what a mall burning might look like.
